New nubuck walking boots - treat before use?

Evening all,
I've just bought some Berghaus nubuck leather walking boots. I also picked up some Nikwax Nubuck and Suede Proof waterproofing fluid. I'm unsure if I should treat them now before I've worn them or wait until after they've been used? I'll be doing a 120 mile walk starting next weekend so would prefer for them not to leak!
Appreciate any advice anyone could offer.

Personally I'd do them now. Good luck on the walk.

I'd do them now too, it just gives them a little extra protection before your start using them.

I'm sure you'll do great and it's for a great cause so that'll spur you on! Failing that a pub at the end will be adequate motivation too!

Indeed, the walk is in fact called Up Hill and Down Ale hah! I think the Cleveland Way is usually about 109 miles. We've added 11 just for pub detours
