My eldest is 15 in August, and wants us to get him some weights to use in the garage.

He is a very big and strong lad - 6'1 with a broad frame.  I think he will easily overtake my 6'3 in the next year or so.

I'm looking at various options for a weights bench and some dumbells and a weights bar.  But I really have no idea what is good as I've never used free weights much at all.

Really looking for suggestions on :
- Appropriate weights / equipment for a big and growing teenager
- A good place to source them

He isn't looking to get 'big', he just wants to have good definition and increase his strength.

Why not pay for a gym subscription and a few sessions with a trainer?
At least then he will get good advice on how to train and will also not be training alone so less risk of injury etc. especially with a weights bar which he could be tempted to lift too much weight with when on his own.
