Yes, I've heard of such meat being injected with water - too much in some cases. There's a butcher's shop called "The Meat Market" in Cardiff, whose produce seems particularly suspect - what's more, there's always a strange odour about the place, which I can't really describe.

I buy the birdeye chicken tika ready meals for when neither me or the misses cannot be bothered to cook. It's not bad IMO. I would pay for it in a restaurant but then I wouldn't get a meal for <£3 either

I had this exact meal tonight. It tasted pretty good actually.

Each to their own!

In fact I got three different ones as Tesco were doing 3 for 2.

Seriously the sauce, rice, bhajis and naan weren't bad. Certainly not great but not bad either. It was just the vile meat type stuff.

I don't buy any meats from any of the supermarkets any more because its just the cheapest nastiest ****, I now use our local farm butcher or Costco, it costs a little more but myself and my family can taste the difference.

As an aside. Did anyone watch that Horsemeat Banquet programme the other night where they were trying to persuade several bright young things to try Horse. To be honest it wouldn't bother me at all, its just protein at the end of the day but they did have a section on takeaways. They took several of the sorts of crap stuff that young 'uns buy after a night out - burger, kebab and curry etc. Think the burger worked out at 2% meat, kebab was incredibly most meat but the meat in what was described as a Lamb Curry could not be identified by DNA. They went through all the usual suspects - beef, chicken, lamb, goat, horse etc but simply said it was a completely unidentified animal. Programme was crap overall but that was a real shock. must admit though that the horse sirloin did look bloody good.

Surely you can get a range of meats of varying quality from most mainstream Supermarkets?  I have to admit I share Dave's dislike of ready meal curry meat but find that an (almost) equally quick alternative is to get an Uncle Ben's ready made curry sauce with associated rice and pair it with a suitable meat to go in it (normally roasted chicken breast).  Aside from the extra 15mins for the chicken to warm in the oven along with 'extras' such as the bhajis and naans) it really is nice and quick.

I always find the revulsion at the thought of consuming human flesh fascinating. The thought of eating another person is revolting but when we consider that almost every large mammal and bird tastes pretty good we have to assume that humans probably taste pretty damned good too.

I have no problem what so ever with eating horse, as long I'm buying horse and not beef.

I've got no problem eating human nor horse. I do not believe one type of meat is fair game but another is not.

Considering pigs IMO look horrible and are always covered in crap and what not people have no issue eating them why should any other animal be an issue.

As long as I'm not killing it and preparing it I'll try anything once to see if I like it. Lamb for instance I do not like as I find it tough, dry and chewy. Human on the otherhand is supposed to be like Chicken which I love
