NHS precriptions

I get prescription medication on a regular basis but as is the way of this country I fork out through the nose for them.

I found something called a prepayment certificate which covers the cost of all your prescriptions for 3 or 12 months. Why no one, including my regular chemist hasn't told me about this is beyond me!

I found a company who give you the certificate and free 24 hour delivery anywhere in England for the same price as just the certificate from the NHS website. And with topcashback/quidco I got an extra 10% which made it cheaper than buying from the NHS!

They ordered my prescription on Thursday so I will update regarding the service.

They have good reviews from what I can see but has anyone else used this company?

Other companies are available, including Boots and Lloyds.  Even better, keep your struggling local pharmacy alive and get it from them...   
It's a timely thread though as the recent TV ad campaign about this type of service is from Pharmacy 2U not the NHS.  
If you ordered on Thursday, why haven't you had it yet?

I was with a local lloyds but they have rolled out charging for deliveries now and staffing problems they seem to have means there has been a notable drop in their reliability.  And boots don't deliver unless you are housebound.

Surgery have a 48 working hour prescription turnaround like most. If I have it by Tuesday I will be impressed.

It's because of the ad I started looking into my options. A few friends have used pharmacy2u but they haven't been too keen.

And without rubbing it in, if it's a repeat prescription, why do you need it at 24 hrs notice?  My local Pharmacist (who did recommend me to get a pre-payment certificate when appropriate) suggested I should put in a repeat prescription well before running out, e.g when opening the last box if you have more than one box per prescription.

My surgery don't allow you to order until it's 7 days before you are due to keep medicine wastage to a minimum. If it arrives on Tuesday it will be a 24 hour delivery service. But I will hold out until it lives up to it

7 days is plenty of time for a 48hr local turnaround isn't it? Why is Tuesday 24hrs if you ordered on Thursday? or did you need to wait for the account to be cleared/confirmed? Just curious   If I'd signed up on Thursday I would disappointed if my first order took 4 days to get here, 3 not counting Sunday obviously.

Surgery isn't open on Saturday so 48 hours would be Monday for the prescription to be done. Then 24 hours delivery would be tuesday. I used to be frustrated at my pharmacy/surgery before I understood the time scales . Lack of understanding on my part

My apologies, I (stupidly) didn't realise your repeat prescription still had to go through the surgery using these online services.  I order mine electronically from the Surgery using NHS Patient Access, and then 48 (working) hours later the prescription is sat at the local Pharmacy for me to collect.   So if I was prepared to wait an extra day I could have it delivered for free.  Premium delivery seems to be £60 a year if you don't buy a PPC from them though.

I also order using patient access and have electronic transfer from surgery to chemist...... it is usually ready before closing time next day
