Yeah, a bit of thread revival.

Home alone and bored so I thought I would have a go, step-by-step as it occurs, errors and all. I've only done it once before and I don't intend putting any manual handling into this.

Measured out the ingredients as per Paul Hollywood then closed the book. From here on I'll wing it from what I remember of the TV shows I've seen.

I let captain hook do his job until it looked like this.

Covered with cling film in a warm bowl, then into the proving drawer .

I did a white farmhouse loaf the other night (not from a bread machine). Came out well.

A good tip to get a good rise is get some steam in the oven. Use a water spray or a little tray of boiling water in the oven.

I actually do the rising in the oven. Put the oven on minimum for 10 mins. Then turn off and keep door open slightly. Makes a good proving area.

Dare I ask what that pink thing that looks like it's been severed from a zombie is?

Placed a tray of boiling water into the oven and parchment onto the baking tray.

Turned this out onto the parchment.

Looking a bit sorry for itself

Then into the oven.

Shouldn't you let it rise again in it's final format before placing it in the oven?

Erm, I don't know. I have also just noticed my previous attempt further up the page where I clearly did something wrong and have done nothing different to address it this time.

At a guess it was still trying to rise as the crust was setting around it

Hindsight is a wonderful skill
