My Sloe Whisky probably looks something like that, just a deeper read.

2 things:

1: I'm disgusted by the price in the shops of empty bottles, it's often cheaper to buy something and throw the bottle away than to buy a bottle!

2: Need to find something to fine filter it through. I was going to buy Coffee Filter Papers, but that's proving harder than I thought. Ohh I'll just pop into Waitrose or Tesco I thought. Oh no, that didn't work. they only sell the ones with give a coffee flavour to things. Apparently Sainsburys is the only place that sells plain ones.

Failing that, can anyone suggest anything else, around the home, that would fine filter?
I presume a clean/white coffee filter is probably the best and finest filter to use?

I once used a single layer kitchen roll the funnel. Worked ok, just a bit slow. I now use muslin cloth.

Yes, I found those in Waitrose and could of bought them, but on the packet it goes on about how the filters "Infuse" the coffee with flavour.

Sounded like they has some flavour in the papers, which of course I would not want!

If anyone knows any different please tell me

Sound a bit radical!

Yes, I could try kitchen roll, thanks for the suggestion
Was just a tiny bit worried it would fall apart, but I suppose if I'm gentle.

No DESPERATE rush, I could order some from Amazon, was just expecting them to be easy to get.
(Those brown ones above were all I could find in my town)

Perhaps it's just their wording?

"These filter papers fit most domestic coffee filter machines. They feature the Melitta "Aromapor" system with micro-perforations which give the delicious coffee aroma whilst reliably holding back unwanted coffee grounds."

"Aromatic coffee enjoyment. Aromapor in 3 zones - perfect aroma unfolding.Discover a balanced and even more flavoursome filter coffee taste experience with Melitta®Original Aroma Coffee Filters. The Aroma Coffee Filters are now separated into 3 Aroma Zones, each with a different number of perforations. This allows the Original Aroma Coffee Filters to give you the best in coffee enjoyment!"

"Balanced Filter Coffee Taste
Aroma Zones allowing for the perfect release of flavours"
I read this on the box and thought...Hmmm, this is sounding like they have something "coffee flavoured" impregnated into the paper.
Perhaps I got the wrong impression from the marketing poo on the box.

If anyone can assure me, this is all marketing poo and they are just plain filters that don't put any flavour into the liquid I'm happy to buy some

If you didn't catch it earlier in the thread, run it though a kitchen sieve to get the berries and coarse bits first.

My pic in post #128 is unfiltered as I forgot to do it in all the excitement

Thanks, yes great idea
I did freeze the berries solid after picking and cleaning as I read this was the best method.
I had to change containers as found better ones, after a few days, and thought the berries did seem rather whole still and skins still solid, so I went through them all and just gave a little squeeze, enough to split the skins on each one.

So yes, I do need an initial course filter to get the berries and the small but visible bits in the liquid.
Then a proper filter to give it that totally clear final look.

I saved some 200ml bottles I has some chillie sauce in, yes they are VER well cleaned out!
And going to give a few as gifts. Just wondering if I should pop a few berries into each of these gift bottles?
I saved a few back in the freezer.
Perhaps 2 or 3 berries?
What do you think?

Yep, I did exactly that with the gift bottles. I put about six or so berries  in. Two-Three just looks like they are in there by mistake IMO.

Thanks for the advice
Yes, I don't wish them looking like I forget they were still in there

These are only 100ml and 200ml bottles, so not THAT big, 6 sounds good

This was as I say Whisky, and I put more fruit, sour, and more sugar, sweet, in that my recipe said, but then I wanted to cover the taste of the spirit a lot as I personally don't like the raw burning yuk taste of neat spirits, and I know from in the past, the fruit and sugar helped do that.

All guess work, and nothing to compare it against, but looking forward to it, just a sippy drink as they used to say.
