PV panels, Take the plunge or not.

I'm considering fitting PV panels but really need some advice.

Roof runs N to S, pitch 35-40 degrees. Which side of roof would be most beneficial?  West gets sun in PM, thinking a small  8 panel installation, or should I forget it?

I did see suggestions that you should put half on the east and half on the west and use two invertors, but not sure how much more costly that is.

You could get an installer to give you advice and a quote at the same time.  Also you could post on the electricians forums (google it) where I have had good advice in the renewable energy forum.
