The individual panels vary in wattage so it's common to quote per kilowatt (that's 5 and a half of my 180W panels)  They could sell them by the square metre like carpet   Most installations are around 3kW, but it depends on how much free roof space you have.  Above 3kW the equipment to control them gets more expensive (it's probably more than 3kW but you get the idea).  There is also a limit above which you don't count as a small scale installatioin and you don't get the "domestic" feed in tariff.  I think there is also a limit to the maximum they will pay you per year (is it £1000?) so generating more than that is only of any use if you can use it, so obviously doesn't pay back anything like as well.

I'm getting them stuck to my roof tomorrow!!

I live in a housing association house so i'm not paying for them.

They are installing them in 2 rows of 10 across mine and my neighbors roof, does that mean both houses will be able to use all 20 panels or will each house be wired up to 10 each?

Either way they told us that we should save between £150-£200 per year on bills

Thank you, there is a company in the area. I think they are installing a few streets down, they are going to check it out for me and give me a quote at least then I will know if it is worth pursuing, if it is I will ask a for a few more estimates from other companies. I am not in that much of a hurry although with winter almost here suppose I should be!! I know you folk in England and Wales are having good weather but up here it is vvv wet and chilly.

So would that mean you're stuck with the same supplier for the next 25yrs?
If so, that saving could soon be wiped out if you could have changed to a cheaper supplier.

I'm starting to look into it now and I think Sanyo panels are one of the current top performers. Not cheap though.

My 3.2kW installation has averaged 11.6kW per day over the last 103 days (since they were put in in June.)  I think that's the same as 11.6 units per day isn't it?  Today they only managed 5.93...

So I'm not sure where 1930 comes from, or is that per year?

I was out the other way so I think I'm generating an average of 11 units a day, so I'm even more confused now
