You'd have to save a lot of energy to recoup the cost of some of these flashy monitors.!!!
Easy enough to read the rating labels and manuals to discover the power used by most - if not all - things. Many appliances give 'typical' annual usage figures in their specs. The heavy power users are fairly obvious... heating, cooling, cooking, older incandescent lighting, fridges, freezers and washing/drying appliances.
Reading the meter(s) (gas, electric, water) regularly will aid reducing consumption for some... It can be done hourly, daily, weekly... I do mine every month, so can compare this year to last and the year before etc.,.
Smart meters are 'free' from some suppliers and might suit? Some used to give away electrical energy meters - maybe they still do - I have one from many moons ago that I got that way. |
