Personally, If the above is an example of a sickness situation, it's quite clearly excessive, it's no wonder the PS has the highest rate of sickness when compared with the rest of the working population. I wonder how many would take sick leave if restrictions were put in place regarding sick pay and time allowed, eg stat sick pay after a qualifying period and 3 strikes and your out.

I asked about a source for the alternative facts that @Faust has been peddling. So it was me who asked about facts.

Didn't mean to be aggressive, just forthright.

His hurting because the Tories have had a bad week.

Wait to the wheels really come off once we're out of the EU, he'll be like a wounded bull then.

Yet another 'white elephant'.
Plans to close scores of tax offices unrealistic, says spending watchdog

More concern regarding wasting huge amounts of public money with no sound business case this will lead to improvements.  Many are now saying that it will reduce HMRC ability to collect taxes.

I have a suspicion a wheel will come off the EU once we're out. They'll keep rolling along though - even on three wheels.

The Treasury need the taxes collected by HMRC to keep the government and Britain financially fluid.

Seems strange to me the government is cutting back on its financial income.

I think if TM spent less time trying to be Thatcheresque and more time attending to things that actually matter that in itself may make a difference.

However, sadly it appears just like Cameron she has become a hostage of her own party.  How roughly 60 hardline M.P.s plus Murdoch et-al have managed to change the direction and fortunes of not just this country but the whole of Europe is both alarming and astonishing.

The world is now in a more dangerous and vulnerable place than at any time since the Russian Cuban missile crisis in the 60s.

But it isn't. We've never collected this much tax or had such a low tax gap.

HMRC has never been more efficient than it is now.

There is this:

HMRC Performance inquiry

"The Committee's annual inquiries into HMRC accounts have previously raised such key concerns as settlements in tax disputes, the department’s customer service performance and, most notably, tax avoidance by large multinational companies."
