Actually reading the press the scandal here isn't how much people get paid, it's the discrepancy between male and female, that's going to be the big issue for the BBC going forward.

Read a comment somewhere earlier, can't remember where, speculating whether it was mere coincidence that the new Dr Who being announced immediately before this story broke or was done to deflect from the pay differences.
