I would prefer to watch the most dangerous criminals get wiped out in a survival tv show. It would make great entertainment. Death race and running man style.

The British state used to use the death penalty for just about every crime going, and guess what ? It did not deter crime and it merely created the public execution spectacle. And made folk heroes out of some of the condemned. Also if you cannot guarantee that you don't execute those who are innocent then you are complicit in murder, all be it state sanctioned murder.

And? What if it was only for the worst crimes and where the perpetrator was obvious? The killers of Lee Rigby? Obviously murder, no doubt of the criminals. Still wrong?

And guess what? Light sentences don't deter crime and we have them too.

I'm happy with their sentences. One off the streets forever, the other one likely to be. Lifetime removal of freedom against a quick and easy get out.
For the capitalists and sadists amongst the public, there's always the chance they'll be used as slave labour for some outsourced work as well, win win.
