Scrapping 1p coins 'will not raise prices'

How does everyone feel about this?

Off the top of my head, I wouldn't mind it.

Some things might get rounded down, most things will get rounded up.

I pay for the majority of stuff these days ( £3) by card/Apple pay so i rarely have a lot of coins.

Inflation is a runaway train so the 1/2p is practically worthless now.

Can't see  them hanging around for long.

I'd get rid.

A chugger outside Cannon Street on Monday had a bucket and a contactless card reader. Sooner than we think small coins will be completely redundant.

Yup get rid , can't remember when I last felt the need and it's about time we got away from that 99p to make us believe we are getting a great deal on a product .

Must also be a big saving for the treasury in not having to manufacture the them ?

Why scrap these coins? They are still useful:

Use one to put under a table leg to stop wobbling.
Useful to skim across water.
Glue to the floor in a shopping arcade.
Hide coppers around the house or garden as a children's party game.

Etc.

Charity organisations will not be pleased if the copper jar is ditched.
