MP charged over expenses claims

A Welsh Conservative MP has been charged in connection with allegations over fraudulent expenses claims.

Chris Davies, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, is accused of two offences of making a false instrument and one of providing false or misleading information for allowance claims.

The CPS said he was due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court in March.

It said the charges followed a review of evidence submitted by police.

I think it is time to introduce some minimum intellectual standards to be an MP.

By his own admission, Chris Davies, does not have sufficient intellectual ability to understand an expense system.

From the BBC report
If he can’t understand an expense system there is no way he should be making decisions to run the country.

Or of course, it could be that he is just a big fat liar and knew exactly what he was doing.

Cheers,

Nigel

If David Davis has the intellectual ability to be Brexit Secretary i would suggest the bar for any capability in the HoC is already pretty low.

Or are people suggesting the three line test....

Can you tie your own shoelaces?

Do you need letters on your underwear to identify front and back?

Do you find people in the HoC to be stimulating and interesting?

Jesus.  We'd have to sack half of our lot and start again.

In principal though, I do agree that the bar to be an MP should be very high.

No more Dianne Abbots then

Joking aside, I’m serious about this.  We are talking about people who we entrust to make complex decisions about the running of our country.  If we have ones that cannot handle basic arithmatic, cannot understand an expenses process, are dishonest etc. how can they be entrusted to make complex decisions.

There needs to be an entrance test or minimum entrance qualifications.

Cheers,

Nigel

Must admit I was going to say he turned me into a newt but then found the deed.
Christopher Davies MP admits two false expenses charges
Seems new MP's get two budgets, one had 470 odd left and a 700 bill. The other budget had 8,000 or so left and he could have used that on the level. His crime was splitting the bill to finish off the lower one and take from the higher one? The bill being legit?

Confused now what the crime is.

PCOJ, fine and dandy, should balance out. One crime on one side, one on the other. Diversity and all that.
