Well the first one is out of the blocks.. wonder who will finally win the nomination. My money is still on Oprah..

Senator Elizabeth Warren jumped into the race for president on Monday, announcing she is forming an exploratory committee for 2020.

The Massachusetts Democrat, known for her critiques of big banks and corporations, became the first major candidate to declare her intentions with a video posted online on New Year’s Eve.

Warren, 69, is entering what is likely to be a crowded Democratic primary field seeking to take on Donald Trump. Those considering bids include a slew of fellow senators such as Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand and Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, the former vice-president, and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.

I probably should know better than to ask, but I don't want to loose my curiosity ever...Why is this thread called 'Pocahontas 2020'?

Because Warrens says she has native American ancestry so Trumped bantered her by calling her Pocahontas at one of his rallys and now she's put her name forward to run in 2020 for the Presidency.

We have a second runner - Richard Ojeda, the former West Virginia state senator. A fire breathing populist ex-paratrooper who ticks all the boxes for bringing blue collar democrats out to vote.

The only tick against him is that he voted for Trump in 2016...

I'd still put my money on Trump at this point,

Against Elizabeth Warren?  Sadly I'd agree.

I think the only Democrat that stands a chance is Biden. He has the that kind of rough, straight talking that can shut Trump down.  He's not afraid to go dirty if the opposition does.

He also has proven executive experience and some of the Obama "magic" rubbed off, so he can leverage that.  He polls well with Trump's base, the blue collar.

The only area where he's weak on is the creepy lady shoulder rubbing. Post MeToo, that's gonna hurt him if the GOP zero in on that.

Trump will eat Warren alive though.

If the Democrats put Warren - or someone like her - up for election, then they really don't understand the dynamics of why Trump won and Clinton lost.

Trump is a symptom, not the cause, of the underlying political tensions and issues in the USA.  The sooner they realise that, and start looking for a candidate who can position the Dems correctly, the sooner they'll win.
