EU and summer time

The EU has decided to stop using summer time which is a reasonable step except...
Anyone got central heating with a time clock?
Yes, you've got it - the older ones and maybe some of the latest cannot have summer time disabled.
I think it was pushed by time clock manufacturers.

Does that mean i can watch the News at Ten at 10 o'clock after 2021

The proposal requires states to stop the twice-yearly clock change from 2021, and choose either permanent summer time or winter time.

At least if we are on permanent summer time, we have more daylight at the useful end of the day. Looking forward to brighter evenings next week, couldn't care less about the mornings.

We are on GTM the CET so this doesn't affect the UK.

Old HeatingTimers didn't have Summer Time programmed in.  And any device with a Summer time option will have a select your time zone and disable switch.  In my experience

Hate to tell you this but mine hasn't and I have seen others like that.

We are on GMT just now, BST from early Sunday morning.

CET is always one hour ahead of us, changing at the same time.  So just now CET is GMT   1, from Sunday morning it is GMT   2.

If this is implemented, we would still always be one hour ahead of CET, either on permanent GMT or hopefully permanent BST.

Actually no, it is just a UK specific model.

Might be safer for the young school kids if we were on permanent winter time.

Either way I'll be pleased to see the twice yearly time change go.
