Zac Goldsmith has resigned in protest at the Heathrow decision triggering a by-election. I wonder if  Boris will do the same? If not I am guessing one will be triggered automatically after he fulfils his pledge to lie-down in front of the bulldozers.

Good news and true to his word, also helps with the rehabilitation after his nasty London Mayor campaign.  Could he run as independent?  Used to be a strong Liberal Democratic area, couple in he London areas also being pro European Union, that small majority could get smaller, that's even better news!

Zac to Stand - Guido Fawkes

Guido sources confirm that Zac intends to be a candidate in the by-election he is triggering in protest at the decision to build a new runway at Heathrow.

Richmond is traditional LibDem territory and may be receptive to a Remain/LibDem by-election putsch. CCHQ is worried that a post-Brexit LibDem revival would put Richmond and neighbouring constituencies back in the hand of the LibDems. Could we see the return of 73 year-old Vince Cable?

Will the Conservatives even put up a candidate against Zac and split the right-of-centre vote?

With all the legal costs and protests, by the time it gets built, if ever, we will need another airport anyway.

Anyone know what Corbyn's view on this is. Could he cancel the whole thing when he wins the next GE?
