When you say negligence, do you mean she neglected to do anything assuming she believed Boris lied to her?

Of note Johnson is unable to command any majority in the Commons and is yet to have an electoral mandate. The Queen should really have used a little more judgement IMHO. She lives very handsomely off the British people and accordingly we should be able to expect a higher standard.

Cool. So you agree the opposition were wrong not to support holding an election.

The Queen cannot use her judgement in these matters. And you'd be one of the first to condemn her if she did begin to make political judgements.

The opposition were right not to hold an election now. It is Johnson that doesn't have a mandate as not enough MPs support him. That is not to say a more credible leader could not emerge in the House from elsewhere.

By being inept and negligent, she is being political. But this case does highlight the absurdity of having a hereditary monarchy in the twenty-first century.

You want the Queen intervening in politics and democracy?

She takes the advice of her elected ministers. The PM is still the PM.

You want the Queen to take a remain position? As a remainer?
