East Germany and North Korea were both supported by the other regimes in the Communist Bloc. If the argument is that Socilaism can only survive by being supported by the Capitalist States then it kinda suggests that Socialism isn't that sustainable.

So vastly wealthier established and aggressive countries actively trying to make a different system fail is an equal test and the basis for judging what system is best?

North Korea just like East Germany were and are not being given any opportunity, it was and is a war, albeit a Cold War which was why I said it was an unfair example on which to judge Socialism.
