You both make a reasonable point, but I think that's still overridden by the value of him as party leader appearing so many times (against forgettable faceless junior ministers/shadow ministers/every Lib Dem)

Although, I also see it having diminishing returns for them, if he maintains this one-man band approach
- they are starting to slip from what I always thought was their peak

Perhaps he doesn't want some of his colourful colleagues like Godfrey Bloom going off-message.

He seems to be the embodiment of the party, and I'd go as far to say he is more popular than the party himself.  If he died in that plane crash I doubt we'd have seen the results we have recently, they would be more split as it is votes for more extreme partys are finding a voice in the more moderate UKIP.

I'd say he is a brand 'mascot' like Blair was successfully and brown was so unsuccessfully.

Exactly!

others rarely seem to get a chance on TV
- these days occasionally his deputy Paul Nuttall or Eastleigh by-election candidate Diane James
- Godfrey Bloom very very rarely ... for controversy

Are we blaming UKIP for trying to put their popular leader forward and get votes?

My only criticism is against the BBC
- though I don't think his media over-saturation will do his party favours in the long run (there's a risk of becoming the political equivalent of Carol Vorderman)

Miliband looks and sounds like a Nick Park creation, but he made it as far as leader of the opposition.

So odd looking Huffington gave him the honour of collecting some of them together.

God. I can't even make a mildly amusing observation about Farage's appearance without half a dozen of the usual suspects all diving in to make a counter argument.
