The removal is cosmetic and in theory no big deal. However, the words 'European Union' are known and understood across all languages as meaning visa free movement across the Schengan area. It would be most unfortunate if, through misunderstanding and the loss of those key words, access or rights were mistaken denied by local officials.
Of course, after Brexit we know we are losing such privileges (for example in the EU after any transition period we will need to use to have a visa for extended stays in Schengen) but there is no need to pre-empt it given we don't known how long it will be before we are denied such rights. |
