I've been watching the video on the Blackstar ID100, and what I do like about those amps is that everything's on the amp and not hidden behind menus and buttons that can be variably assigned. On things like the HD500X you gain a huge amount of flexibility, but it's all that much harder to access because you have to fight the interface. Bilbo says he doesn't mind a learning curve, and nor do I as long as I feel that it's going to be surmountable. I hope I'll get there with my gear! I must say that using the PC software with the pod makes designing your own sounds considerably easier, although it's still pretty complicated because of the sheer quantity of options that are available.
I did like the Blackstar that I heard last weekend, and it certainly would have been my second choice. Pretty flexible, and - from what I could hear in a very limited time - a very good sound for a digital amp. |
