You've probably already sorted it now but I'd go with a mini practise amp over a headphone amp too, more control over the volume/tone and less likely to break.
Another alternative would be a battery operated multi-effects pedal. Something like a Zoom 505II can be picked up for £20. Old tech now but still plenty of sounds to play with.
Or a Pocket Pod, great in the summer for outdoor playing, just plug in headphones and jam away, great variety of tones too, they usually go for anywhere between £20-40 s/h. Wish I'd kept mine now.
Something newer like a Behringer GDI-21 amp modeller (Sansamp GT2 clone) would do the job too. I was looking at one for DI recording with my amp, only £28 new from amazon or Gear4music and it has a nice array of amp & cab sims. It might not be very loud without a proper amp but I'm pretty sure it would work as a headphone amp and it's battery operated too. |
