Thanks for the comments so far. It's partly aimed at beginners and partly aimed at just creating an atmosphere in the shop where people can discuss and learn from each other, all ultimately, of course, with the intention of increasing sales! I think it would create interest even from a more experienced guitarist who knows all of this stuff, just to see something like that on the wall of the shop - it would make for a bit of variety and interest. What I would want is to impel people to come and talk to us - about anything at all - rather than just come into the shop, mooch around for 10 minutes and then leave.
Even if someone comes in and disagrees with what's on the poster, that's great if they come up and talk to us about it - it'll give us an opportunity to sell something to them!
I'd be looking to do things in the same vein on the website in order to attract people and get some interaction. The Anderton's videos are the ultimate success story, I think, of doing that, and for sure videos of some sort would be part of the online brand, although I'd try to come up with an angle that's different from everyone else.
This is all at least 2 years away still but I want to gradually pull together some ideas and materials that I will be able to use if and when it happens.
Keep the comments coming! |
