I'm in the process of Building a Home studio...This time Semi-Properly. The space has been used for a Home theatre in the past but I can't justify having two Home cinema's and my gear needs a permanent home setup ready and all plugged in ready to go.
(Iv'e even bought some "Persian" rugs)
I have guitars drums and amps and stuff stored up and its a shame not to have a space where I can go and flick a switch and play and record stuff.
I still play guitar everyday but I want a space dedicated to it...And I want to get back into using protools etc...
I know there is a dedicated Gear thread..But I wanted to start a more specialised thread to share ideas etc...discuss your recording setups and post any questions I may have...
I'll post some pics tonight of where I am currently with the project. But feel free to post your Home recording setup's as any advice and ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Since installing the acoustic treatment over the weekend..The results have bee amazing...No longer a washy spilly mushy sound coming from the drums...
The bass traps have done the most to tame this room...Its amazing.
More is needed around the kit..But I do not want to kill the room dead...I can freely move the acoustic panels about and hang them where I wish if needed...
I need to order more tiles to sort out the reflection points of the monitors..especially the right one...but best to have not enough and order more if needed.
Looks like it's coming on nicely. Must be great having all your gear in one place, set up and ready to play. Mine is scattered around the house (haven't even got my e-drum kit set up at the moment) and if I fancy doing a bit of recording it takes ages getting everything out and setting up, so less incentive to do so.
Would be good to hear some recordings once you get fully set up.
Wow I wish I had the room for all that kit you have. I have my Logic X based studio in my bedroom. I have an iMac installed with logic Pro X, ESI inear powered monitors, a Focusrite Pro 14, Nektar keyboard and Nektar Panorama P1 mixer and a new Roland VT3 voice changer. See pics attached. I Love my setup but unfortunately I don't have anymore room left to buy a Roland TR8 which i would love to have. My guitars are in my front room and cupboard due to lack of space.
Nothing amazing like some of the posts but here is my set up which I like.... the obligatory lava lamp!!! Flyer for Amnesia Ibiza from waaaay back in 1993 and one of my little favourite touches. Graffiti sticker of Rise Above by Obey...
