Anyone played a Godin Session guitar?

Has anyone owned or played a Godin session?
I'm looking at getting one, but because no dealers down here stock Godins, I'd be buying online without playing first.

I've read some really amazing reviews, which is why I'm considering one so strongly.

Anyone got one?

Godin are great guitars. I have not played a Godin session, but did own a Godin LGXT for a while and it was a very nice high end guitar. I don't think you'll be disappointed....

I'm on the verge of buying it!!

Trouble is, the finish that I like best is only available (from where I'm buying) with a maple fingerboard, and I was hoping for a Rosewood.

They do the rosewood ones in all of the other finishes...

Ah decisions! The finish I want, but with maple. Or the Rosewood that I want, in a different colour.

Just a thought.
Godin do some great guitars, and are well known for their synth access guitars. Also some of their arch tops.
The Session is at their lower end, and appears to be a Strat type guitar. Nothing wrong with that of course. But just be open minded if you buy. The resale value will not be great. Charvelj had a LGXT, and that is a top end guitar. The Session is, err, not.
Just think about what you really want. If it's a great guitar for the money, I'd probably look elsewhere to be honest and buy a good second hand Strat. If you really want the Godin name, well go for it.
Oh. and I've never played a Godin! But I have wasted lots of money on guitars!

I've thought about it - a mexi strat is about the same price as the Godin (£400), and second hand USA strats seem to be going for around £600.

I've read that the Godin wipes the floor with the mexi strat, hence considering it.

I've got a mexi deluxe Nashville tele, and it really is amazing for the money. (rrp 600, but i got a great deal)... I guess it would be nice to have something which isn't a fender.

I've just sold my PRS se so I'm looking to replace! Hence the searching

Don't get me wrong, it's probably a great guitar, just not one of the ones Godin is known for. Although they all seem to offer value for money.
Good luck if you get one and let us know what it's like.
Be interesting to know why you sold the PRS, and what model it was. I presume it was a pricier model than the Godin.

The PRS was an SE EG. HSS, almost a bit stratty. Played seriously nicely, but I didn't really like the sound of it too much. I tried a pickup change, but I think it must have been the tone of the wood.

The EG is a sorta £500 ish guitar.

The Godin Session is on my list, but I'd love a hollowbody. I really like the 339, which is a smaller body version of the 335.
Trouble is, the Epiphone 339 is only about £300, so it's not going to be a good idea to go from my PRS to that.

I wish there were other companies making 339s. I think Ibanez make a cheap one but it's too cheap.

Thanks but I'm no longer looking for another guitar really.. The sale of my PRS fell through so I decided to stick with it.
I also don't get use gumtree at all, and am a long way away from you.

It's a very fair price and I'm sure you'll sell it pretty quickly

I realize this is an old thread but I felt I had to respond. The Godin company does not make entry level guitars, just entry level prices. The Session model, of which I am a proud owner, is built to very high standards. But, as any lower priced instruments there are always trade offs. I have played for over 45 years so to my tired old ears I have upgraded the ceramic pickups to alnico ones. There is nothing wrong with ceramics, but I have a more discriminate ear than say a beginner or one who has played for a short period of time. Pretty much all ceramics that I've owned or tried sound a bit brittle to me. But getting back to the review, the construction on the Session is superb: no sharp fret edges, nice tight neck pockets and overall quality build. This guitar is not for everyone, particularly to those who must have a certain name on the headstock. To them I say you are missing out. But please try one out. Listen to your ears not to naysayers.
