I realize this is an old thread but I felt I had to respond. The Godin company does not make entry level guitars, just entry level prices. The Session model, of which I am a proud owner, is built to very high standards. But, as any lower priced instruments there are always trade offs. I have played for over 45 years so to my tired old ears I have upgraded the ceramic pickups to alnico ones. There is nothing wrong with ceramics, but I have a more discriminate ear than say a beginner or one who has played for a short period of time. Pretty much all ceramics that I've owned or tried sound a bit brittle to me. But getting back to the review, the construction on the Session is superb: no sharp fret edges, nice tight neck pockets and overall quality build. This guitar is not for everyone, particularly to those who must have a certain name on the headstock. To them I say you are missing out. But please try one out. Listen to your ears not to naysayers. |
