Some of you here will know I'm a hobbyist music producer.

Well, I just stumbled across a YouTube video talking about a new model Tascam cassette deck, and right at the start it plays an 80's style music track that I wrote and produced about 3 or 4 years ago.
Its not a rip-off off the tune, its my production.

I'm actually shocked that it has found its way into the hands of an American Youtuber... in fact it has made me wonder how on earth he found it.

Whilst its not really a big deal to me, there is a part of me that wonders should I do something about it? And if so, what?

Not too sure, actually.  If it was me i would attempt to contact the YouTube poster to at least acknowledge you as the music producer, and a possibility of a link to your original work.  I personally try my best to acknowledge any samples used in my tracks

Maybe leave a youtube comment (with a bit of advertising thrown in) something like,

"Hey guys, the track you used at the beginning is mine, if you like it you can buy it from..., check out my other tunes at..."

Be interesting to find out how they got the track. Was it on soundcloud with keywords, '80s', 'synth', etc?

If you wanted to be funny about it you could report the video, claim third party content.

Not sure how you'd go about that but I've had a few videos flagged for using isolated vocals/acapellas. My account isn't monetised but adverts will be shown (on said videos) due to using third party content.

You could make money with your track on their video but it would have to have  10,000? hits per week to be worth monetising

Yeah I would try to capitalize on it if you can rather than being confrontational. That being said, what do you want from this? Do you want acknowledgement, money? Does the video have many views? if not then I guess there isn't much there.
