I'm looking to find a book that I read a number of years ago.
It's based on a US submarine (possibly nuclear) that is conducting biological research on mosquitos. The mosquitoes escape and infect the crew with (if memory serves) an engineered strain of dengue fever. The illness causes insanity in the crew and includes the symptom of crew members biting their own fingers off.
Spoiler: Spoiler At the ending of the book the person controlling the submarine puts the vessel into a steep dive and then is subdued by uninfected members. The remaining crew members are unable to recover the sub from the dive, resulting in the sub imploding from pressure.
I believe the book may have been written by a military peron, either active, or retired, due to frequent use of military jargon & acronyms.
I would be most grateful if one of you could point my in the right direction towards finding out the name and author of this book.
Kind regards |
