I have to restart my tablet to see new books in my Kindle app

I recently did a factory reset of my Galaxy Tab S (1st Gen) and since then I can't see any new books transferred to my kindle folder, until I restart the tablet. This happens with both the official amazon kindle app and the kindle for samsung app. I also had to create the kindle folder myself as none was created automatically by either of the kindle apps. And no association is being created for mobi files.

Where am I going wrong?
