done Amsterdam a few times with the lads.

But got a good deal to go in summer with wife and kids.

Any suggestions what is family friendly. Kids are boy / girl 13 / 14.

Got a free cannel boat tour. But what else is worth doing. Misses fancies the Anne frank house. But any other recommendations. As I assume it will be a tourist trap like Rome and Barcelona If you don’t plan ahead.

have a mooch around 9 streets - it's a nice area, hop on a train to somewhere like utrecht? - that's much more chilled out..

if you go to the anne frank museum, then I think its best to book online, and go very early as it's always busy...

Amsterdam has a zoo too...

Depends a bit on your kids I guess?

If you want either the Van Gogh or Anne Frank then prebook your tickets well before you travel or you may find it impossible to get in.  When we were last there in April VG was full for a week which was a disappointment.

We enjoyed the Banksy exhibition here.

There are lots of other museums and galleries but they have limited appeal to kids.

We stayed at the Sir ADAM hotel on the far side of the river near the Centraal Railway Station.
There's a free, frequent ferry which takes you to the "I Amsterdam" sculpture.

The A'DAM tower has a viewing platform with bar and restaurant.
There are swings on the top that go out over the edge ... if you or your kids are brave!

Ours love wondering around the streets along all the canals. They also love going to places like Vondelpark, and whilst smaller Serphati Park is really pleasant. De Pijp is a nice area with a huge street market and lovely restaurants. There is also Artis (Zoo), Segway tours (can be daunting with cycles, pedestrians, cars, trams etc). The Amsterdam Dungeons and so on.

It all depends what they like. For my 12yo I hired a studio session with a Dutch EDM producer at the Q-Factory which she absolutely loved.

And don't forget to sit on the lovely squares...

Best pizza in town; Fiko Amsterdam, not cheap but best outside Italy...
Very decent pancakes are near the Anne Frank museum; avoid the chains near the station and other areas...

Feel free to ask anything more specific, we are planning on moving back

Fiko Amsterdam is great, from waiter to head chef, all staff are Italian so nothing is lost in food preparation methods or cooking.  It's steered a little towards fine dining hence the price although you certainly can't beat it, I was in there last weekend

Cheers. Hopefully the weather stays fine so we can make the most of it.

Kids will be on cold turkey from WiFi. So wish me luck.

Is Amsterdam expensive or was it just the alcohol as the last few times were stag dos

It’s not cheap to eat out etc. About the same as London. Although a pint shout not be £10
