Hi all, I've booked next years summer flights we are flying in to Munich then 13 nights later flying back from Milan, we have booked a villa about 30 min north of Milan for the last 7 nights of the holiday with leaves us 6 days to get from Munich to Milan. We are thinking a day and night in Munich then off to Lindau or somewhere else on lake Constance then we are at a loss as to what to do. We are 2 adults and 4 kids ages 9, 13, 13 and 15 so something for the kids would be good, does anyone have any recommendations? we are thinking a train from Munich then either hire a car or use public transport to Milan.

We haven't booked any accommodation for the first half on the Holiday so recommendations for that would be good too.

If we drive what routes would you guys recommend?  I know it's not a huge distance so a fun scenic route with stuff to do along the way stopping a night in interesting places might be fun. While staying in the Villa we plan to visit Milan and one or more of the Italian lakes.

There’s a night train from Munich to Milan, that could be interesting for the kids.

Munich is a great city. Perhaps you could stay there and use it as a base? It’s also well connected to other cities by rail, like Vienna/Salzburg.

Plenty of mountain roads to drive. Or if tunnels are your thing, there are quite a few long ones.

Six days to get from Munich to Milan is excessive. I’ve driven in one night from the U.K. Set off at 2100 to Lake Garda by lunch time following day

Sitting in the car with four children touring for six days doesn’t sound like fun for anyone in my opinion.

Why not rent somewhere else? Go across the alps, stay in Lake Garda. Let the children enjoy Gardaland. Got to the wildlife park. Hire a boat on the lake. Etc.

That's the plan if we drive, I think we want to stay near a lake for a couple of days then move on to another area then to Milan (just north of)
