London with the kids for four nights. Wallet will get some hammer for sure (they want to go to that Shrek thing).

We have not been abroad for years. All of our passports have expired and it'll cost a fortune to renew them all (x4).

The last few years we have been going to the Lakes. Last year we had a cottage in Ambleside for a week.

Last year we did a lot of travelling and emptied all the piggy banks, so probably only a week in July to Sardinia.

I did the Shrek thing last week. Quite good fun.
It's worth doubling or trebling up to do other things around there a lot cheaper. We came out of Shrek & paid £13 each to do the London Eye too. Think it's normally more than double that each.

Have a look at getting annual Merlin passes.  They include a bunch of attractions in London plus some big ones outside London. Stuff like Madame Tussaud's, London Eye, Shrek Experience, London Dungeon, London Aquarium, Legoland Windsor, Legoland Experience Manchester, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Warwick Castle. You also get discounts on stuff you buy at the attractions.

Yep.  Worth noting that you can't do a lot of the London attraction in August on the basic merlin pass.

We will probably get a set again, but waiting for a deal - £774 for the family currently vs. £130 for a single day out at a theme park.

For anyone with under fives we recently discovered that Chessington (don't know about the others) has a 'parent and pre school' ticket for £21 which you can use on term time weekdays - if you book a few days in advance.  That's £21 total for one parent and one under 5.

I've decided it's time to book something for October for my GF and I for 7 nights

Looking for AI, lots of sunshine, pools, ideally no kids, higher end so 4 or 5 star. First trip away together apart from Devon and Cornwall so I'd like this to be my 'hot' holiday.

It's a long time since I've been on a 'package' style holiday in Europe/Africa so I am bewildered by the choices.

Turkey, Tunisia and Morocco are off the list (not my shout, but probably advisable)

Yeah, at that time of year the Canaries is a great shout.  Only done Tenerife and that was with kids, but think there's a few more upmarket AI in the Costa Adeje.

Corfu in just over 2 weeks, 6 days in Portugal in June. We've also got a week in Spain in October and 17 days in the Canaries in December.

Being greedy we're looking at September 10 days somewhere the wife's deciding so I'll wait and see what she comes up with
