This won't help with this incident but this could so easily be avoided.
Never drive into your drive, always reverse in and drive out. There are a few good reasons but surely the visibility aspect is enough.
When you must reverse always look where you're going. Sounds like a given but clearly neither of these two drivers were. Yes it's more comfortable using the mirrors but the view from them is restricted.*
It's not nice having to deal with bent cars but it could have been a child. If you didn't see the car you definitely wouldn't have seen a child.
Op, sorry this has happened but I'd imagine the insurance companies would go 50/50.
Both drivers should be embarrassed in my view.
*Yes, there are drivers legally on the road who have spine flexibility issues and there are ways and means to help them but it doesn't sound applicable here. |
