would you know if you scraped your own car?

Just today I noticed that were scrape marks on my front bumper. Is it possible that I may have scraped it myself and simply didn't notice? is there any way to tell from just the marks alone on the car?

I've done this before. Moving my wife's A6 and parked close to a neighbours car and thought nothing of it. A couple of days later my wife notices some black scuff marks on the front bumper and we were puzzled where they had come from. It was only when I thought back and got my neighbour to check their car that we could see what had happened and I paid to repair both cars.

Very strange though....didn't feel a thing.

^ You won't feel a thing because the plastic isn't rock hard - it is designed to deform slightly.  If you had just touched the other car, there would be no mark, but because the two cars scraped together  scuffs in the paint are caused.
