There are definitely two meter clearence tunnels on the outskirts of Paris, with lots of warnings - we are two meters without the roofbox.  Have never tried driving up to the entrance I admit, we take the last exit

^^ Ah OK.
There's a opportunity for someone to market a roofbox that can be mounted on wheels and towed; or a trailer that can have its wheels removed and be attached to the roof

Ah ha - this is one of them (or maybe the only one?):  https://tunnels.piarc.org/en/system/files/media/file/appendix_2.08_-_france_-_paris_-_duplex_a86.pdf

The total tunnel length is thus about 10.1 km, making it the longest road tunnel located entirely on French Territory.

The Duplex Tunnel is a single tube comprising two independent decks (or traffic levels), with unidirectional traffic on each level (two lanes in each direction). It is reserved exclusively for light vehicles with a height of 2m or less and with a laden weight of 3.5 tons or less. Vehicles over 2m high are prohibited.

The mapping data used to be from an Open Source project - though they seem a bit more opaque on the subject these days.
I can't see any bridge height data on my local maps and when I switch to RV mode and deliberately pick a route involving a low bridge ... or any route it just says "calculating route".
My phone and app are upto date, looks like it's broken on iOS

I always book as a “high vehicle” (even though my car is about 1.5m) as you get more width on the single deck trains.

If everybody does that they will change the charging mechanism from lane metres (height doesn’t matter) to lane metres or volume - whichever makes them more money.  If you need the extra space for mobility etc then no worries. If you are merely protecting your paint I reckon you should pay more

Yup, protecting my alloys and bottom of my car. Anybody that owns a wide or low car does it.
