They're paying = clean it out.
If you were paying = replacement.
If you're interested in ridding yourself of future problems, there are companies will remove the EGR and alter the ECU software so you don't get any errors.
All the EGR does is filter out unburnt fuel and inject it back into the engine.

I think as the car is still under warranty you should insist on the EGR valve being replaced.

I'm a little surprised that you have an EGR valve that needs cleaning on such a late model car, is it high mileage?

My car is 51000 miles and *touches wood* no EGR issues.
Same engine.

You should try and make sure they're removing it for cleaning and not just doing the below, lazy clean.

Well one of the mechanics in there is a good friend of mine. I'll have a word with him and see what he thinks and then speak to them again in a week or so.

A question regarding warranty...

When I bought the car (10 days ago), they gave me a one year warranty. Their standard for second hand cars is 6 months but I pushed for a year.

However Peugeot give a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and the car is not 2 until October.

Does that mean it still has manufacturers warranty, and if so, should I go through my nearest Peugeot dealer instead? They would be the experts, (bought it from a Hyundai dealer) and also wouldn't they be getting the costs covered by Peugeot, hence no worries about taking the cheap route.

If I'm misunderstanding how it all works then apologies.

On a side note, just back from filling up with diesel. 601 miles, 55.14 litres.

A thoroughly disappointing 49.5 mpg.

I've just done a 2-day trip to Watford (from Cardiff). Most of it motorway at 75-85 with the usual crawl between Reading & Slough on the way up, a 20 minute jam in Watford and a crap journey out of Bath on the way back (dropped a mate off en route home) due to a blocked lane on the A46, so crawled 2 miles in 30 minutes. Not ideal mileage.

According to my trip-computer I covered 358 miles at an average speed of 54mph and 58mpg. That's the "Eco" HDi 1.6 engine.

According to the Warranty brochure, provided the vehicle  has been serviced properly,

"If your vehicle is resold, its successive purchasers will benefit from the various PEUGEOT warranties until their respective date of expiry, provided that the conditions of application of these warranties have been fulfilled by all of the purchasers. For this reason, you undertake to inform your purchaser of the conditions of application of these warranties."

My mileage is all pretty regular. I live rurally, 10 miles from work. Takes me 20 minutes to get there, first 7 miles is pretty open road with little traffic, last 3 miles I have a bit of traffic at roundabouts etc. That trip repeated about 6 times a week. About once a week I go to a different town about 25 miles away but that's all plain sailing about 55-60mph with little to no traffic.

I was expecting closer to 60mpg so I'm a little disappointed tbh!
