They aren't the actual foglights but they do share the lens, both sides light when reverse is selected with headlamps onl American cars from 30 years ago had cornering lamps activated by the indicators.
My bicycle had a cornering light back in the 60s - as long as you mounted it on the fork or the handlebars the light pointed in the same direction that you were travelling .
No, don't mock, it was a massive chrome headlight, driven by a dynamo but with a built-in battery back-up for when you were stationary, and a dip-switch on top so that you, on your bicycle, didn't dazzle oncoming cars (or pedestrians, of course).
Whilst I agree, that is not withstanding that many others have been doing that for a very long time. Still good to see that the technology is filtering down to more basic vehicles now.
I've got them on my Mercedes. It's quite interesting watching them do their thing as you're driving along, especially when traffic is coming from the other direction. They really do work very well.
