If you even suspect they were the guilty party, go on "Social Media" and ask if their van sustained any damage that night.

There could be lots of white Transit vans. Baker, milkman, laundry. Unless it's likely Mr AV Installer had to park nearer to a chalet to load up in the morning it's just another suspect.

I'm assuming the OP suspects something, can't hurt to ask.

So, just to book end this little episode.
I reported it to the Kent police and my insurers. I've had nothing from the police (not that I expected anything, it's not really newsworthy to anyone but me) but I had a call from a claims handler to ask if I was sure I wanted to report it? His reasoning being that the ramifications to me were significant so it might be better just to suck it up and pay someone local to sort it and have done with it.
I did a little digging online to see if I could identity the culprit to no avail then started searching eBay etc for doors. Long story short (after having my time wasted by a bloke in the Midlands who initially appeared to have a door actually in my colour) I'm handing it over to a local recommended "dent away" type repairer. It won't be perfect but it'll be mostly unnoticeable, especially if I keep it dirty.
Apart from the premium change and having to mention it when quoting for five years the main reason is only having my car go missing for one day. Being self employed means each day off road could mean I miss out on £200 or more in earnings.
That adds up.
Anyway, thanks all for the comments.
Dave.

Ok. My car spent the day at the local dent removal place ( simon at Dent-ox ) yesterday and I'm really very pleased with it.  £300 to remove any trace of Dover Dickheads handiwork. Very happy indeed.
Most importantly only one day off the road when I was on grandad duties anyway.
