Tyres quattro or non quattro - any tangible difference?

In need of new tyres on the A4 and finding that there tend to be quattro specific tyres (labelled AO R01) and non quattro specific versions (labelled AO) in the size I need.
Any real reason to spend the extra on the quattro versions?

I'd just buy premium tyres of the correct size, load and speed rating and not worry about Audi Original fit tyres.

Been looking around and apparently the Hankook RO1/RO2 tyres just have better rim protection (which on the tyres currently on my car have offered no protection at all).

Was hoping to just change the front two tyres as the rears still have around 4mm on them, however, my tyre monitoring system has again said i've lost some pressure in the rear left (came on a week or so ago and I put it down to the weather). Finger's crossed it's just  a leaky valve and not a puncture.

I quite like the hankooks that are on the car and if only changing the fronts would likely stick with them (though they have worn quickly @12300 miles). Anyone have any other recommendations? If I were to change all 4 I was leaning towards the Goodyear Eagle's

I've put Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's on my Audi A6 Quattro, which are "JO", so Jaguar marked, but they certainly do the trick. Funny the tyre fitted made the observation that these were Jaguar tyres...I said yes I know and is there a problem, not a all they'll be fine.  They also have very good rim protectors!

Just be careful fitting new fronts if the rears are fairly worn, as the 4WD system can confused by the different diameters and think you have wheel spin. This causes mild surging and changes in balance as it shifts the power around.

Tyre pressure warning sensors have an annoying habit of causing corrosion of the alloys, leading to leaks around the valve base. We had to have 2 alloys swapped under warranty on our last Ford because of this. Having said that, the cold weather has thrown up warnings on the Ford this morning, even though there's no loss of pressure, so it might be temperature related.

My tyre pressure warning is a pain in the arse on my Golf GTD. Never caused a problem on the Q3. In the last couple of weeks it's shown pressure loss on both fronts, not at the same time. First time it happened I took advantage of a quiet Kwik Fit and their free inspection, nothing found. Couple of days later the other tyre showed pressure loss. Stopped, visual and felt for foreign objects, again nothing so I reset the pressure sensors. Following morning I manually checked pressure and again re-set. Been fine for a week now.

Mine is definitely deflating, by the time I put air in today it had dropped to 25psi (down from 39psi)

What's the difference between the two versions?

Is it a construction or compound thing, or just a bit of marketing?
If the former, I guess that it wouldn't be wise to mix the two, especially on the same axle.

I recently stuck on some Pirelli P-Zero R02's on my S3. They have massive rim protection which is why I went for them. But you have to specifically ask for them or hunt them down as they'll just supply standard Pirelli's otherwise!
