Should be able to get one nearer £200, where you looked?

Ps. GSF and euro car parts have a 95ah for £176, and £150 from Tanya for a Exide battery.

Euro car parts are very expensive last time I went there. The exide is a very good make and I’d go with that one!

Hold on......swirl symbol? You mean the glowplug symbol?

Why do you think the battery is gone?

Both indications are perfectly normal. The swirl, you’ve ascertained is the glow plug warming symbol, and the battery light comes on when no charge is being received - which is normal when the engine is not running!

Are you having difficulty starting the engine? Does the battery light come on when the engine is running? If the answer is no to both of these, then it is likely that there is nothing wrong with your battery.

You know, you can always get it checked out at the likes of Kwik-Fit - it’s one of the few tests I would trust them with, as you get a computer printout showing the state of your battery, so little room for shenanigans. (I had my battery tested a few years ago, and it showed as being fine - I had a dicky starter motor - it’s a free service).
