I’ve managed to crack the inside edge of one of my wheels on a pothole, and I’m wondering whether it’s something I should have repaired or whether I should be buying a new wheel?

Anyone had an alloy repaired and been happy with the result?

I had my 19inch alloy repaired 8 months ago for a crack caused by a pot hole and not had any issues with it so far. Cost £100.

I've used this company a few time (unfortunately). Always had a great service from them. I think I've had 2 17" normal silver alloys fixed, 2x a polished dual colour 18" alloy where once dented and the other time badly scraped, and 1x a 21" polished alloy that required welding for our AMG...

They seem on the ball, and not too far away from you...

These also have a good reputation, I just never found them competitive. Neither in absolute cost, nor in time it would take to get them done. But it may work out better for you.

Cheers guys. The local Audi centre have given me the details of a company here in Aylesbury who have quoted me £72 to fix it (from the photo I sent them). Dropping it off tomorrow.

Spent some time considering picking up a second hand wheel on eBay but I’d be concerned that what turned up may be worse than what I’ve got now!!

My brother did get me a price for a new wheel, but that is out of the question as even with his discount it would cost me £635 (full retail is £729 plus VAT)

I’ve used this place before and thought their workmanship was poor quality.

To the OP, find a decent place and a crack can be easily fixed.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I’ve used them repeatedly and found them pretty consistent.

I used them as they were round the corner from work and i try to support local businesses were possible.

But i’ve found somewhere close to home who’ve done a cracking job on my 19”s and i’ll be using them in future.

I had 3 cracked wheels in the last 18 months, had 2 repaired as like you didn't want to chance an ebay purchase and new price was ridiculous.

After the third crack I gave up and bought a new set of wheels and tyres, all the same 18" size.

The previous ones were not only 19" staggered (wider at the rear), but the rears were shod with 275/30/19, which was partly the problem as they had no give.

I now have wheels/tyres that suit the car better, with Goodyear F1 245/40/18 all round that allows for rotation and give a much better ride

Thats expensive for one wheel but have they found the cheapest option? I ask because I know at Skoda (same parent) there are 2 parts list numbers and prices for wheels depending on how they are sorted. I can not remember the exact figures but it was something like £400 for one wheel on the parts list but on the spares list (or something similar) it was under £200 for the exact same wheel. So you needed to know either where to look or what to ask for to get the best price.
