Loved my company Passat, the most relaxing thing I have ever driven. 50-60MPG, Adaptive cruise, AEB, good sat nav and radio, loads of space, comfy seats - not a lot to criticise as a family bus.

However... It's not a sports saloon. The under-steer is quite pronounced when you push hard, the brakes will fade if worked hard and the acceleration is nothing to write home about, particularly the 1.6 diesel. Overtaking needs space to wind up the engine and it all sounds a bit strained. The body stays fairly flat through the bends and the suspension soaks up the bumps, but it all feels a bit flabby when motoring on a bit.

Not sure what equipment you get on the highline, but the adaptive cruise and Discover Pro sat nav for me would be a must. If I am honest, I would want the 2.0 engine, as it's significantly quicker and can return better fuel economy. Mine only had aircon, not climate but it was still excellent and I didn't miss it.

I suppose it depends on your needs, but for a comfortable family car I really do rate these.

Thanks for the review
Just trying to decide between
A white 2016 Passat 1.6 highline heated seats, heated steering wheel, climate Control.

A Black 2016 Passat 2.0TDI  highline heated seats, heated steering wheel, climate Control.

All other things being equal, I would get the 2.0. It feels more like the right engine for this size of car.

I have a 2015 2.0 GT, great car to drive, easy get over 60mpg on a run, smooth and quiet, touch wood no problems upto now.

Watching your video above I'm not a big fan of the silver as all the nice higher spec chrome bits get lost against it.

No mate I traded a Passat estate for a CC (an itch I had to scratch) only had the CC 6 months, it was to small, the doors didnt even have door pockets, small boot etc, so traded the CC for the Passat GT.

Ah, ok, surprised about the CC, always like the sleek shape but surprised at your comments being too small!
Not surprised you went for the GT, it looks very nice, especially in that colour
