There are a bewildering variety of options out there, but RRP seems to be about £200, although they can be had for as little as £49.99
Especially if brakes are involved

I think the thought line needs to be "where do I draw the line here"  I think it's had it's day and even if you replaced this part, what do you decide to do in another 2 months time when you have another failure?

On the subject of the car though does anyone know the proper name for the screw or bolt that it attached to the seat belt fixings in the picture please .. I also need to                                                                                  know the size ...

That's a Torx bolt (some known as a star drive) Probably a T45, T50 or T55 as they are the most common sizes found in socket sets.  Probably worth grabbing a set like this to make sure your options are covered:

For undoing the bigger size bolts I would also consider getting a 1/2 inch to 3/8 converter/adaptor so you can use a 1/2 inch socket bar to undo a tight bolt.
