Except if asked, you have to declare motoring convictions in the last 5 years and if insurers do change their stance, you may face an increase. I would still rather not have the points and pay the fine/fee. Each to their own and all that...…...

Fair point. If insurer does change the stance and a premium increases, then we can always still shop around and change provider.
