I was wondering if anyone would know if my focus has a timing belt or chain?

The engine is

1.8L Duratec HE PFI (125/130PS), petrol,
And the model is an 07 focus sport s but , i dont know what i am looking for so cant tell either way.

I have searched Google etc and found done info on mondeo engines but not focus

I even tried the Ford etis site but that wasn't very helpful .

I did post this on another thread but on reflection I thought it might be better to ask directly.

Can anyone help ?

I can post pictures of the engine if that would help ...

Thanks

The 1.8L HE Duratec engine is a chain driven engine made by Mazda.

To double check that you have this engine look at the fan belt side, it should have an aluminium casing behind the fan belt.

On the left there is a belt you can see  behind that looks like a black plastic casing, is that what you mean?

Go to Ford Etis.  You can find out what is recommended in every service for your Ford car - you can see what belts/chains/etc need changing when.

Choose the Ford Service option and then you can select to see the Service Schedule and look up all the various minor and major services.

You only need a registration number of a Ford vehicle to see all this.  I used my Ford Focus reg to get this.

You definitely have a chain driven engine, no need to worry about replacing anything. I forgot my brother has the same engine in his car.
