BMW 4 Series stuttering issue

Bloody great in the snow but a pain when you have to buy new tyres. Lol

Thanks for the update - yup it gets costly. And BMW's can be a right bugger for an incorrect tyre setup. My Mercedes AMG is similar, the funniest thing is that on recommendation from Mercedes Benz AMG UK I'm running STAR marked tyres on mine and my problems have gone as good as away.

I have a 320d xdrive manual. Car works fine with Bridgestone run flats 7mm to rears and 4mm on fronts. However when I bought some winter non run flats it behaves like the symptoms described above. The winters I have are all approx 4/5mm - two fronts are Hankook 225/45/18 and the rears are Michelin 235/40/18. I’m not sure whether it’s the mix of brands or what I really suspect it to be which is the size as this rears should be 255/40/18.
Any advice would be helpful cheers.

I've had the same on my 420d (non x-drive) - all tyres within specs. It doesn't happen very often but it does happen. However I think since the service it hasn't happened. I'll keep an eye on it...

Read the thread!!! Don’t mix brands and models of tyres with xdrives (or any of those modern electronic four wheel drive systems). Just don’t do it. Not even within the same range but with different OEM markings as the difference can be huge. You have to run all four corners with the exact same make and model and ideally with the same wear.

It wouldn’t have been the same then as when you read the thread you can clearly see this was related to xdrive and having different tyres. On a two wheels drive car you can get away with that as long as you keep the axles the same, but even then I wouldn’t do it.
