Thanks Dave.
VCDS is a motor vehicle diagnostics system, which was initially designed for use on VAG Group vehicles. However, as it 'talks' to your car's various ECU's/control modules through the OBDII port, it is also compatible with many post 2001 vehicles, as they use the same type of port.
VCDS is just about 'dealer level' diagnostics on VAG Group cars but can quickly and easily read fault codes on most OBDII vehicles, although not to the same degree.
The idea of this sticky is to create a database of AVForums members who own VCDS or other suitable diagnostic equipment, who are willing to help fellow AVFer's to diagnose that pesky engine warning light we've all seen from time to time, without paying the often extortionate fees charged by main dealers.
So if you need help, this thread may be an answer to your problem and save you a few quid, not to mention the heart in mouth not knowing what that flippin' warning light actually means!
To keep the thread tidy, PM the nearest member who you think may be able to help you out, rather than posting help requests in the thread.
If you're offering to help, please keep to the following layout.
I'll kick off:
Name: Gareth

Ability: Competent, especially on VAG Group. Several friends who are main dealer Master Technicians, cars, light commercials and HGV.
