Was going to add this to my thread about a cheap auto for my granddaughter, but thought it worthy of its own.

When she first started learning, I asked Direct Line for a quote to add her to my policy for extra practice. This is on a 1.2 Polo & they wanted an obscene £1,300 pa. My premium is £250. I've just asked again & for the remaining 13 weeks of my policy they want £440. Crooks.

Just speaking with her & she mentioned this company called Veygo, who are apparently part of Admiral. Said she could get insured for 3 months for £116. Bearing in mind my research in the auto thread was looking at around £1,200 pa for her own policy, I assumed she was mistaken. But having had a look I can indeed get her insured on my car but with her own policy for £122 for 12 weeks. I'm guessing that the small increase is becasue the Polo is a TSI but still far more reasonable that Direct Line.

The entire concept is based on exactly what I needed, temporary insurance to drive a car that you don't own. They offer cover for as short as a couple of hours to aid with learning. Thought this may be useful for others whi like me had never heard of them or the concept.
