Hi All,

I've recently returned a car and just want to know  peoples view on on the attached (zoomed) image.

Following BVRLA guidelines - "Dents of 15mm  or less in diameter are acceptable provided there no more than two per panel and the paint surface is not broken".

The lease company are all over the place with this saying any dents over 10mm are unacceptable according both their guidelines (which say 15mm) and BVRLA guidelines (again say 15mm).

What's your view? Is it over 10mm, 15mm and do you think the paint is broken (I spy a very small white mark)?

Hard to tell but looks over 10mm ignoring the small white mark.

Difficult to tell from that angle. You would normally expect a photo that clearly shows the size of the dent - eg taken at an angle with the ruler positioned such that the outside of the dent is clearly visible.

You are seeing a reflection of their stripe card and that shows quite a lot of distortion out from the initial impact and over 15mm imo.

Is it lease and not pcp?

Looks like a really bad tattoo on a tiger to me!
Shall we assume that you are being 'charged' for this?

It’s hard to assess when so zoomed in. Doesn’t look that bad to me. I’ve returned worse without consequences.

Doesn't look too bad. A dent magician would get rid of that in a minute or two.

One thing I forgot,,,Did you return it and did they provide the picture afterwards? Or did they pick it up with you present to allow for a discussion about it? I've only had the latter situation, and if the person makes such notations I clearly mark on the form that I don't agree with the reason why...

Either way they should do an inspection before presenting you their results, which you are free to disagree with.

Yes agree but given the stripes on the picture looks like he has already given back.

None of these repairs actually get done as the car will be auctioned off with the damage.  The charges also vary a lot so to “repair” a wheel for BMW and Audi costs around the 35 pound mark, which isn’ta bad price.  Other companies are more than double  that
