It's The Wire in a different setting, with no police, and extra soap opera gangster crap. Acting is horrible, and I wish the focus was less on the usual retro gangster crap and more on the music. After the 2nd episode I was like blah...I get it, they aere drug dealing thug ghetto criminals, so what now they become hip hop superheros or something? I'm gonna wait till the full season is out and watch the last 2 episodes to avoid the usual serial fluff.
Light spoiler: There is Ralph Bachi animated montoge thing that shows them dealing drugs as fritz the cat type folk. Maybe he actually did hat sequence I dunno, but it felt out of place and gimicky.
